A1. License activation🔗

In brief🔗

Before any use, a new register must be activated. Activation installs the license that unlocks the core module (and the optional modules). Until the register is activated, PosCaisse only displays the Activation wizard.

Activation required

"This register must be activated before any use." This is the very first step, done only once at installation.

Who / when🔗

For the Admin / the installer, at the very first start-up of a new register, or after a hardware replacement.

How to access🔗

The POSCaisse Activation screen appears automatically at start-up as long as the core module (POSCaisse Core) is not active.

The two paths of the wizard🔗

The Activation wizard offers two paths:

Path When to use it
Activate the register For a new register or one already registered in PaderfSuite Cloud.
Restore a backup To bring an existing register back online from its own backup.

Path 1 — Activate the register🔗

Two activation modes:

"If this register is already registered in PaderfSuite Cloud, use the automatic linking. Otherwise, enter the installation code provided for the restaurant."

  1. Choose Online activation.
  2. Use the automatic linking, or enter the restaurant's installation code.
  3. Request the modules needed (core + options: BackOffice, Online ordering…).
  4. Tap Synchronize: the license is retrieved and validated ("Validation in progress").

"Use this mode if online activation is not available."

  1. Choose Manual import.
  2. Import the license via file, by pasting the text provided, or via an identification QR.
  3. The license is validated locally.

Once validated, the register displays "Register activated — The POSCaisse core license is valid."

Path 2 — Restore a backup🔗

To be used only with a backup created by this same register. PosCaisse verifies the identity of the backup:

  • "Identity verified: this backup matches this register."
  • ⚠️ Recovery mode: if the register was reinstalled, the backup can restore the register identity contained in the archive in order to put the register back exactly in its original state.
  • "Backup refused: it belongs to another register."

You choose the content to restore: database/licenses/settings (mandatory), catalog, stock, staff/tables/devices, sales & Z closures. The confirmation warns that "the current database will be replaced… The application will restart automatically."

Messages & edge cases🔗

  • "A license exists, but it does not contain the POSCaisse Core module": the license is incomplete — request the core module again from your PaderfSuite contact, then synchronize.
  • Online activation requires a network connection. If it is unavailable, use Manual import.

Tips🔗

  • For a new register, favor online activation: the link manages licenses and modules automatically and stays up to date.
  • Keep your backups carefully: they are the only way to bring a register back online identically (Restore path).
