Create a location for each useful area: sales floor, reserve or quarantine. Use a recognisable code and a name understood by the team.
A parent groups areas. Stock entry/exit settings define permitted movements; they do not move products themselves.
A location used in history can be deactivated but cannot be freely deleted.
Example
Create “Main reserve” and “Drinks shelf”. Creating them does not fill their stock. To move drinks, use a transfer or replenishment and select these two locations.
Check before confirming
Give each area a distinct name and code. Check its parent and entry/exit permissions. Check remaining stock and open operations before deactivation. Do not delete a location to erase its history.
Access and scope
Retail sections require a compatible selected register and the necessary modules and permissions. Check the store and register first. Local access does not always expose these sections; use the connection mode intended for your installation. Missing access does not mean the food-service catalog should be used instead.
